Smart solutions
for warehousing and intra-logistics
Partner for planning and design of cost-effective warehouse operations and lay-out
Vision
Wherehows Logistics is a consulting firm with a fresh approach to warehousing. We provide targeted solutions for (complex) issues within logistic operations. In order to ensure cost-effective DC's and warehouses we apply an integrated vision and approach to quality, lead time, flexibility and cost. In whatever we do, our customer’s logistic process is key.
In September 2010, Vincent Weinschenk launched his book "SLIM Warehouse Design, planning and control
cost-effective warehouse operations " (in Dutch sofar). The above mentioned vision is translated into an approach of planning, control, execution and lay-out ofwarehouses in order to optimize and improve business results.
Goal
We make a substantial contribution to achieving and improving ...
• Operational and financial results of business goals
• Implementation and control of logistic processes
• Installation and deployment of resources and logistical resources
.. By leveraging human capital:
• Flexible automation
• Job enrichment (rotation, multifunctionality)
• Quality of process, labor and organization
The logistic processes within the new DC of Simon Loos were designed by Wherehows Logistics. An innovative narrow-aisle concept was designed on basis of SLIM Warehouse principles.
By moving pallets directly from the inbound trailers to T-bones, a complete process step is beaten. T-bone structures decouple transports to/from P/D’s by forktrucks and storage/retreival by man-up trucks.
Both forklifttrucks and man-up trucks can operate freely and independently while performing their tasks. The concept makes lead times significantly shorter and prevents unnecessary or duplicated internal movements. Read more...
Strategy
In order to provide effective solutions we focus on
four key-issues:
• Clear commercial frameworksto determine logistic
Conditions and operational processes
• In-depth information analysis to ensure the quality of
logistic concepts and operational management
• Flexible design to guarantee integrated logistic processes
• Effective management to simplify planning, control and
organization
Process
Wherehows Logistics uses within it’s consultancy services the SLIM Warehouse approach. This proven approach consists in the basis of four management principles. By using eight desing rules, commercial (strategic) business objectives and logistic (operational) are linked within one another. These management principles on which the approach is based are:
• Decoupling with buffers
• Acceleration by pull
• Parallel planning in teams
• Slotting of locations
